not out of stupidity... unfortunately we have areas on our motorways where
the lane basically disappears, and then you're dumped at high speed onto
another lane. You're supposed to merge with the other traffic, but this one
particular lane literally gives you 10 meters to do so! I couldn't merge
safely on that day, so tried to change lanes left to avoid the merge...
unfortunately a car was coming up behind me. So, my choices were collide
with a vehicle on the lane I couldn't merge into or switch lanes quickly
before I ran out of road (by this point I had slowed right down to give
myself more time to merge).. I choice to change lanes in front of the
driver and slow him down. He was angry!... drove right up my back as fast
as he could. My throttle was wide open and I'm on a GSXR... so eventually
left him for dust, but I was in 5th gear... not sure how close he was, but
I could hear his engine over mine. If he had a few more brain cells in his
skull he might have been able to see the situation I was in and backed off
to give me time to put the bike in a safe position... but no. He probably
thought I was toying with him. I never use that lane now, ever. When you
have problems merging on a 100 bhp bike that weighs 160kg, you know it's a
badly designed bit of road.

ride dangerously: Back in 1987, on a mountain highway here in Washington, a
moron on a crotch-rocket was riding wheelies behind me, and accelerating up
to the rear bumper of my Jeep. So, I watched my rearview mirror closely,
and as soon as this idiot cracked the throttle and lifted the front wheel,
I threw the Jeep into 3rd gear, from 5th, and dumped the clutch, while
simultaneously locking up my brakes. The moron could not react fast enough,
and hit the rear bumper of my CJ-7 sideways at 60+mph!
It dented my bumper, a little, but he was thrown off the road. He ended up
losing his right foot, and incidentally was also cited for the accident.
Them invisible deer jump out from time to time, especially when some
